Physician Assistants can be found in general medical and surgical hospitals, public or private practices, outpatient care centers, health maintenance organizations, government agencies, colleges and universities, and professional schools. The Physician Assistant Studies Program at Mercy University will prepare me for a worthwhile and fulfilling career in medicine. Graduates of the Mercy University PA Program are employed in some of the best hospital centers in and around the Tri-State area within the following medical specialties such as Outpatient medicine or primary care, Emergency medicine, Orthopedic surgery, General surgery, OB/GYN, or Neonatology. Others are employed in hospital-based medicine, critical care, urology, pain management, rehabilitation medicine, breast surgery, oncology, pediatrics, addictive medicine, dermatology and interventional radiology. I am just a few courses shy of graduation.
I am proud to say that I attended an IB high school which is not very common. Most schools offer advanced placement (AP) course. IB courses more than prepare you for AP exams and require more intense grading. The International Baccalaureate program aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment. These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. DP students are better able than their peers to cope with demanding workloads, manage their time and meet the expectations placed on them. Analysis of DP students in Canada, the UK and the USA found that the DP’s extended essay improves students’ approach to learning in higher education. 72% of students taking the DP in China attend one of the world’s top 500 universities, according to a 2013 study.
